Capitalist Realism

Future Perfect | Past Continuous

Capitalist Realism" is broadly inspired by the term Mark Fisher introduced in his eponymous book to describe the cultural logic of TINA –Margaret Thatcher’s self-fulfilling prophecy that "There Is No Alternative. The exhibition is divided in two sections: Future Perfect focuses on the capitalist system from 1989 onwards, illustrating how capitalism has since successfully presented itself as the only realistic political-economic system. Past Continuous approaches capitalism in historical terms, emphasising the dichotomies between centre and periphery, colonial and colonised, as well as negotiating the archival and its connection to public history and memory.
